None at all. Most of our members started with zero background. The free trial class and the beginners' fundamentals course are designed specifically for first-timers — you'll be looked after and never thrown in at the deep end.
For your first BJJ or striking class, just bring shorts, a t-shirt, a water bottle and a towel. We'll lend you a gi for trial BJJ sessions. Once you're a regular we'll help you choose your own kit — no rush and no pressure.
We're a two-minute walk from King's Cross St Pancras, served by six Underground lines plus National Rail. There's paid street parking on the surrounding roads and a 24-hour car park on York Way, a short walk from the gym.
Yes. Memberships are rolling month-to-month with no long lock-in. You can freeze for holidays or injury, and cancel any time with 30 days' notice. We'd rather you stayed because you want to, not because you're trapped in a contract.
BJJ belts follow the IBJJF system and are awarded on the mat by our head coach when you've earned them — never paid for. Stripes and belts reflect time, technical understanding and attitude. Our kids' programme uses an age-appropriate belt system to keep young students motivated.
The best way to choose is to step on the mat. Book a free trial class and we'll point you towards the right starting line.
